DHI España has been awarded the contract for execution of an extensive integrated wastewater study in Bilbao for the Consorcio de Aguas Bilbao Bizkaia.

The work includes:
- definition of water quality criteria
- flow and water quality measurement campaigns in the sewer system and in receiving waters

- hydrodynamic and water quality modelling in sewers
- modelling of wastewater treatment plants
- hydrodynamic and water quality modelling in receiving waters.
The objective of the study is an overall optimisation of the wastewater system, including reduction of combined sewer overflows (CSO´s), in order to comply with water quality criteria in receiving waters. The integrated model set-up will allow simulations and analysis of dynamic situations with rain and CSO’s.
The study will be carried out in collaboration between DHI Spain, DHI Denmark and with participation from DHI Sweden, the consulting company SAITEC S.A. (based in Bilbao) and the research institution CEIT (based in San Sebastian).
